THE LORD IS MY LIGHT

From the May 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Father, when morning sunshine greets my eyes,
I would remember that Christ is my light,
And in the joy of that uplifting thought
I would perform each duty. Would I might
Reflect Truth only, throughout all the day,
Radiate Love wherever I may go,
Bringing each thought in glad captivity
To Thee. O Father, help me now to know
That Truth and Love shine on my path today,
That I may walk—unharmed—the heavenly way.

So when the evening comes and from my sight
Passes the sunshine, leaving all in shade,
Still in the glory of Thy love unchanged
I would be praising Thee. For Thou hast made
All light about me with Thy radiance bright,
Thou Sun of all Thy vast creation pure.
No night is here, for ever-present Mind
Some wondrous truth unfolds. Man is secure,
Of Thine eternal plan forever part.
The glorious light of Truth shines in my heart.
