I wish to add my expression of gratitude to those of the thousands who have been uplifted and healed through the truths which have been so lovingly and unselfishly given to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings.
Eight years ago it seemed that everything dear to me had been taken away from me. I found that no human person or thing could help me to overcome my despondency and sorrow, and so in my extremity I was forced to turn to God. As a child I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School, but after my marriage, since my husband did not go to church. I did not even study Science. But the seed had been planted, and I soon found myself in a Christian Science Reading Room, inquiring for the help of a practitioner. Help was soon obtained, and with renewed hope I began the consecrated study of Christian Science.
It was not long before I learned that Christian Science is a joyous religion, and I held constantly in thought these words of Jesus: "Your joy no man taketh from you." As I began to express joy and love, I found many ugly traits of character dropping away from me. I had not read long before I realized that I had stopped smoking, and that I no longer needed glasses, which a doctor had told me I must never be without. I had not taken up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but I soon realized that I was no longer tired and nervous. Headaches, which I had experienced all my life, came less and less frequently, until they finally disappeared altogether.
