OUR DEBT TO OUR LEADER

From the July 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The life of Mary Baker Eddy is unique in the history of human accomplishments, but her work, concerned with the spiritual regeneration of humanity, has not as yet met with the world-wide acclaim which its grandeur merits. The path of reformers who have sought to bring spiritual enlightenment to the world has never been an easy one. Mrs. Eddy discovered the Science of Christianity, and the task of establishing the movement which makes it available for mankind was a stupendous one. None perhaps have fully realized what it cost her to accomplish this task, but every earnest student of Christian Science needs to recognize his debt to her as Discoverer, Founder, and Leader.

In his play "Abraham Lincoln," John Drinkwater writes:

Lonely is the man who understands.
Lonely is vision that leads a man away
From the pasture-lands,
From the furrows of corn and the brown
loads of hay,
To the mountain-side.
