BUILDING WALLS OF SALVATION

From the January 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Various attempts have been made, and are still being made by humanity, to build adequate safeguards against what are termed the uncertainties of life, and surely no right-thinking person would discourage such efforts. The correct method for attaining enduring safety is of vital importance to everyone, and today Christian Science is supplying this need satisfactorily by instructing those who turn to it how to perceive the certainty of spiritual existence, untouched by mortal beliefs.

On page 1 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "Prayer, watching, and working, combined with self-immolation, are God's gracious means for accomplishing whatever has been successfully done for the Christianization and health of mankind." Thus does Mrs. Eddy convincingly declare the Christianly scientific method for meeting human needs.

In studying the Bible, one is impressed by the reliance which its outstanding characters placed upon prayer to God, who alone could meet their needs.
