Testimonies of Healing

I shall always hold in grateful...

From the January 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I shall always hold in grateful remembrance the day Christian Science was introduced into my home by my small son, who had started to attend a Christian Science Sunday School with a school friend.

One day, the two boys were exploring a river bed during a dry spell. Our son picked up a rusty fishhook with line and sinker attached, and swung it around his head. The hook entered one of his fingers, passing completely through it, so that it was necessary for him to stop at a farmhouse and have the hook filed in two in order to remove it. Several telephone calls drew my attention to what had occurred, suggesting lockjaw. When questioned, the lad replied: "There is nothing to see. God has taken care of it and all is well; that's all." The healing was accomplished, and fears of family and friends were allayed, through the application of Christian Science Mind-healing by a Christian Science Sunday School boy.

This brought my wife into Science, and today she is a devout student. I was not ready, however. I had not been religiously inclined, and had been entirely without religious influence for twenty years or more. For some time I had suffered greatly from severe headaches. During one of these attacks the pain was so intense that in desperation I asked for help in Christian Science, and in less than fifteen minutes I was permanently healed. Later, after witnessing a very remarkable healing of a member of my family, I took up the study of Science in earnest.
