I should like to express my gratitude for the blessings which have come to me since I began the study of Christian Science. It came to me in the darkest hour of my life, when a loved one had passed on, and it seemed necessary for me to lay hold of something that would satisfy my yearning to understand life and its ultimate aims. Christian Science has completely satisfied this desire; it has brought into my experience a large measure of peace and satisfaction, and has answered the many questions that had presented themselves to me over a period of many years.
When loved ones have passed on, divine Love has comforted me and bade me view the experience called death in an entirely different manner from that in which I had formerly viewed it. Financial problems have been solved through the application of Truth, and lost articles have been found when, from a material standpoint, their restoration seemed impossible. Physical healings have been many, since I have studied Christian Science and tried to utilize the truth it reveals. I have been healed of chronic tonsillitis, toothache, ptomaine poisoning, sprained ankle, tapeworm, and a stomach and bowel disorder. At times the pain from this latter trouble was so severe that I felt as if I were passing on. The difficulty was overcome in a few weeks with the help of a faithful and loving practitioner.
These difficulties seemed easy to overcome, but when a ganglion, as it was called, appeared on my wrist and a goiter on my throat, then the battle began in earnest. It took me several years to overcome them. I had some help from practitioners, but these errors did not yield until it was revealed to me that I must give up all thought of dependence on beauty lotions, and rely solely on God for beauty as well as health. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 234), "Spiritual draughts heal, while material lotions interfere with truth, even as ritualism and creed hamper spirituality." As I became willing and obedient, my eyes were opened so I could see clearly how to protect myself from evil, and to "follow the leadings of truth" (ibid., p. 151). I was completely healed, and the healing has been permanent.
