I too wish to take part in the thanksgivings which are tendered by individuals throughout the world for the marvelous revelation of Christian Science. I am happy to be able to testify to its healing power, which brings to light the spiritual facts of being and fulfills these words of Isaiah: "The former troubles are forgotten, and . . . they are hid from mine eyes."
I had an unhappy childhood, and was a sickly young girl; enthusiasm and joy were unknown to me. Having had no religious instruction, I nevertheless liked to read the Bible, although its contents sometimes left me puzzled. Christian Science has perfectly answered my questions by revealing the true nature of God.
Christian Science was presented to me about fifteen years ago by my mother and my brothers, who had been studying it for a short time. At that time my health had become very bad, and the doctor who was consulted advised sending me to a sanatorium, for treatment for lung ailment. Although I had an unjustified prejudice against Christian Science, I then acceded to my family's desire and began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. From the very first pages my interest grew, till it made me forget my prejudice and with it my physical and mental misery. I was healed. Several days afterward I went several kilometers on foot to a Christian Science service.
