MY PRAYER

From the July 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Teach me to live unselfishly,
Not my own will to seek;
That I may not reluctantly
Obey, when Thou dost speak.

Teach me to see as Thou dost see,
Discern Thy image true,
Behold in man Thy purity,
Thus daily to renew

That inspiration all divine,
The gift which Thou hast given
To those who pray, "Thy will, not mine,"
Whose hearts from sin are shriven.

Dear Lord, I love Thee, and I pray
That Thou wilt keep my feet
Steadfast within the narrow way,
And that they may be fleet

To bear Truth's messages to those
Who still in darkness dwell;
To raise the stricken, heal their woes,
Thus Thy dear love reveal.
