Since becoming interested in Christian Science in 1921, I have experienced many beautiful proofs of God's care and guidance. I find that as I understand and apply the teachings of Christian Science given in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other writings by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, my need is always met.
One outstanding healing was that of a tonsil disorder, to which I had been subject for a number of years. Help from a Christian Science practitioner was asked for, and a quick healing resulted. I am most grateful that there has never been a recurrence of the tonsillar trouble.
A more recent proof of God's protection and healing was from the effects of a blast from a gas furnace. I had been out of the city for several weeks and on my return in the evening found my home quite cold. I proceeded to light the furnace, as I had done for several years, but the pilot light did not function properly, and when the electric lift was adjusted the whole force of gas ignited, blowing the furnace door open and throwing me away from the furnace. My robe was scorched, and pain suggested that my arm was badly burned. I declared immediately, "God's idea has not been touched by accident;" I also remembered our Leader's statement in Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
