From early childhood I had been yearning for a satisfying religion. I had investigated many different denominations and cults, but, with due respect to all of them, I must admit that each one interested me only for a little while. My search continued. It was not until my marriage and subsequent motherhood, and at a time when I was fast becoming a chronic invalid, that Christian Science came into my life and saved me. All the circumstances connected with its coming were so unusual that I feel sure it was definitely the answer to my years of searching. I began at once to be intellectually and spiritually satisfied. How wonderful it was to read on the wall of the Christian Science church I first attended that "God is love"! I soon learned that God, who is Love, would not and could not make me sick or sad or sinful, but that He could heal me in accordance with the teachings and practice of Christ Jesus. And this He did within a very short time.
From then on the family became interested in the study of Christian Science. My husband and I began attending church regularly and the children went to the Sunday school. Soon we began to feel the urge to join in the marvelous work of the organization and thereby help others as we had been helped; so we both applied for membership and were admitted. I had been impressed with everything I had seen with regard to the church activities, and realized that here was an institution whose membership actually demonstrated, to the best of their understanding, democracy, brotherly love, and orderliness. Most important of all was the fact that this demonstration was only the means to a great end; that is, the re-establishment, in our time, of the healing and redemptive power of true Christianity.
Through the application and study of Christian Science we began to progress, slowly but surely. Our home life, which had been most discordant, began to improve. After the first few months we cleared out all medicines, and were able, through God's great love, to prove the prophylactic as well as the therapeutic features of Christian Science.
