Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and the way in which it has met my every need.
For over eight years I suffered from a severe bowel complaint from which I could get no relief. A friend very lovingly gave me a copy of the textbook, saying that people had been healed through studying it, and asked me to read it. This I did, sharing the truth gained with my small son, who encouraged me to press on by telling me, whenever he saw me in pain, to read the book, "for," he would say, "it will make you better." Through the study of this book, together with the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I too was healed. This occurred five years ago, and the healing has been permanent.
We have had many wonderful healings in our family, sometimes instantaneous. Through the help of a practitioner my husband was lifted out of unemployment and lack into joyous activity and a greater sense of God's law of abundance. During this experience he received great courage and inspiration from the quiet hours spent in the Christian Science Reading Room, those restful rooms where he learned many times to drop his burden, "and bear a song away" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 124).
