"FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND"

From the August 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The student of Christian Science learns that God, infinite good, is the only presence and power, and that good always was and always will be above the falsities of the carnal mind. He proves the richness of spiritual dominion and the joy of entertaining in his consciousness only spiritual ideas, which are real, lasting, and uplifting. He is alert to detect and reject counterfeit emotional thoughts, which lead to confusion and fear, and to acknowledge the presence of good only.

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul said, "This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Through spiritual understanding gained by the study and practice of Christian Science, our consciousness is purged of false mental pictures and subtle distractions, and is free to meditate on the omnipresence and omnipotence of unchangeable good. The student learns that the emanations of the carnal or mortal mind are no part of divine intelligence, and are unknown in God's perfect universe.
