It is a great privilege and blessing to be a part of the Christian Science movement, and for this and all its activities I am most humbly grateful to God.
My son, now in high school, has always attended Sunday school. His nurse, engaged at his birth, was a Christian Scientist, and on account of this my wife and I attended church services occasionally. We were prosperous, but far from happy. Then suddenly my firm, a prominent one in its line, had to liquidate. Financial difficulties set in. Our home was lost, and it no longer seemed possible to secure proper employment. My health failed, and the general situation and outlook appeared desperate indeed to me. Not knowing which way to turn I commenced attending Christian Science church services. The peace I secured by doing this gave me the strength and courage to seek further help from God. A friend who was a young student lovingly took me to a practitioner, who patiently explained to me what Christian Science is and how it operates, and from then on my healings came as my study and application increased.
The very first healings, which were instantaneous and permanent, were those of social drinking, use of tobacco, tea, and coffee, and profane language, and since then I have had many others.
