Vital statements concerning God and His creation are found in the first chapter of Genesis. Into God's creation no evil or darkness enters. Man, made in God's image and likeness, is endowed with dominion, freedom, and completeness. Furthermore, it is stated that when God finished his work He saw that it was good and perfect. Most Bible students recognize that the book of Genesis contains also a second record of creation.
Of these two accounts Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science text. book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 522): "The Science of the first record proves the falsity of the second. If one is true, the other is false, for they are antagonistic. The first record assigns all might and government to God, and endows man out of God's perfection and power. The second record chronicles man as mutable and mortal.—as having broken away from Deity and as revolving in an orbit of his own. Existence, separate from divinity. Science explains as impossible." Creation unfolds to human thought as spiritual ideas are recognized. Right thinking brings to view the powers and resources of divine Mind, and if this true view is retained and nurtured the self-completeness and sufficiency of God will be revealed.
Man as God's reflection expresses the attributes of Mind, and possesses all that is needful for his harmony, enjoyment, and well-being. This spiritual heritage cannot be taken from him or restricted in any way. Does not the author of Ecclesiastes confirm the true record of creation in these words: "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it. ... That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been"?
