Through the study of Christian Science I have trusted in God for many years, and it is with gratitude that I submit this testimony to its healing power.
I was led to become a student of this Science by my small son, who had a nervous difficulty that had not been healed. At that time I was a member of an orthodox church, whose religious teaching did not stress divine healing. One day while my child was studying his Sunday school lesson, he asked me this awakening question: "Mother, why can't I be healed the way Jesus healed, as it says in the lesson today?" Later, he was healed through Christian Science. In the twenty-five years since then, I have had no other remedy than this Science.
One of my first healings came through the help of a practitioner, and proved the power of the one Mind to heal a nervous breakdown. My husband, not being in sympathy with Christian Science, and fearing a worse condition, placed me in an institution, rather than have me depend on a practitioner for help. I had asked the help of one, however, and was soon lifted out of the shock of the wilderness experience. Although the Bible and Science and Health were taken away from me, I recalled that Mrs. Eddy had written in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp. 149, 150), "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee."
