Because I get so much encouragement and help from reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals of the healings of others, I want first to express gratitude for these. I began the study of Christian Science because a member of my family was seeking healing. This member was entirely freed from a tubercular condition by prayerfully reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The doctors had given the case up; there was nothing more they could do. This healing took place several years ago.
Our daughter started to attend the Christian Science Sunday School at twelve years of age, and with the spiritual understanding she gained there she has been able to prove the healing power of Truth in many ways.
I have had numerous healings, and I am thankful for them all. While suffering from a severe headache one evening, I turned to the twenty-third Psalm, meditating on each verse. When I came to the fifth verse and read, "Thou anointest my head with oil," I was led to look up the definition of "oil" on page 592 of Science and Health, which is, "Consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration." I realized the truth contained in this definition, and was quickly healed.
