QUOD ERAT DEMONSTRANDUM

[Of Special Interest to Youth]

From the November 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To be proved: that God is infinite, perfect, and eternal, and that man is God's perfect image and likeness.

This problem confronts all young people today. It is the problem of being, and it must be solved through the teachings of Christian Science, as revealed to Mary Baker Eddy. We must all sooner or later apply ourselves to this task, for it embraces life itself. This life comprises all that is good, enduring, happy, harmonious, and progressive. Only as we work out the various aspects of the problem can we find the sufficiency and satisfaction that mankind has so long sought.

Christian Science rests on perfect Principle. This Principle, everywhere controlling, unerringly guides us to the ultimate solution of the problem. On page 465 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy we read, "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." From this arresting definition we realize that what we know of God constitutes our understanding of Principle, which is the basis of our reasoning. Our primary need, therefore, is to understand the nature and substance of God, Truth.
