As a young girl, I attended an orthodox Sunday school, but never felt that it was meeting my need. A few years later I had tonsillitis, and my mother, who had told me something of Christian Science, asked whether I wanted a doctor or Christian Science. I decided upon Science, and in a few treatments the condition cleared up. I am grateful for the love expressed by the practitioner who visited me at that time. I enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School after that experience, and shall always be exceedingly grateful for the inspiration received from my Sunday school teacher. Later I joined The Mother Church and a branch church.
For a number of years I went from one position to another, but through Christian Science my rightful place was found. After two weeks I was advanced to a better position, and in a few months received a substantial increase in salary, followed some time later by another.
Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 190), "This mortal seeming is temporal; it never merges into immortal being, but finally disappears, and immortal man, spiritual and eternal, is found to be the real man." This statement helped me greatly at the time of the passing on of my father. I shall ever be grateful for the sustaining power of Christian Science at that time. Truly, God is "a very present help in trouble."
