Only as I regarded each new experience...

From the June 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Only as I regarded each new experience, no matter how difficult it seemed, as an opportunity to prove God's ever-presence and loving care and the consequent nothingness and powerlessness of evil to disturb or darken the glorious, were joy and freedom maintained "with signs following."

When I received a telephone call that my son had a broken collarbone that was being set by the doctor (owing to the regulation of the university football team), instantly the "still small voice" came to me, saying, "Man's unity with God is unbroken." The result was that he did not miss a meal at the family table or an hour from his classroom. The doctor who was responsible for the welfare of the football team was delighted with the quick healing and gave him permission to play again after a period of six weeks.

Before I started studying Christian Science the belief was accepted that I had to endure chronic influenza for a period of two weeks at least twice a year. And so I did for several years. My first healing in Christian Science came quickly through the help of a Christian Science practitioner. Naturally I was grateful for my freedom from suffering.
