A Christmas Message

From the December 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Beloved, whether we are near or far
Apart; though much around us seems so wrong,
We still can lift our gaze and see the star,
And tune our hearing to the angels' song.
And, following the star, we too can find
The Christ, and each enshrine it in the heart,
And find its presence solace for the mind—
A presence from which we need never part,
Relying on the promise to be near.
And as we prove our faith, we then shall see
Christ prove the love of God, and banish fear
With that great power of Truth that makes men free.
And thus we strive to learn the Spirit-way
That leads to God and to the endless day.
