The Wisemen listened, went another way, And saved the child from Herod's covert hate.
Wise Joseph listened, fled to Egypt's sands,
Returned not till he heard the voice again.
The shepherds listened to the angels' song,
Found the young child, and spread the story round.
The crowds about the inn heard their own talk,
Crept to their beds dull and unsatisfied.
Listen! an angel song will touch your ear,
A guiding word tell you the way to go,
Save you from fear's old torment, light your path,
And Bethlehem stillness find the healing Christ.
