"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men" (Ps. 107:31). I am writing this testimony to praise the Lord for His goodness to me.
I was introduced to Christian Science when, as a child, I attended Christian Science church services and talked with a practitioner. I did not go on with the study because of my parents' opposition to what they thought Science was. However, the seed of Truth was sown, and many years later, when I was in ill-health and felt the need of something real on which to lean, I was again led to Christian Science and began to study our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
My first healing accomplished through my own work will always be outstanding to me. I was suffering from rheumatism. My left arm and hand were badly swollen and extremely painful. I had been to doctors for help, but had received no relief. A Christian Science practitioner who had helped me on other occasions was out of town. I knew I should have to do the work myself. I picked up our textbook and decided to read all night if necessary. After I had read for about an hour, the swelling had gone from my arm, and most of the pain had ceased. A member of my family found it hard to believe the evidence before him, for he walked around the room several times, coming to me at intervals to feel the arm to assure himself that it was true. I am indeed grateful for this experience, for I feel that from this time on we both realized that there is a divine healing power that is available to all who desire it.
