"LIFE UNCONFINED"

From the February 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE releases humanity from its self-imposed limitations. Science reveals God as one infinite, divine consciousness and man as His idea, not confined in nor hedged about by matter, but dwelling in omnipresent good. Man expresses the omnipresence of Spirit. He is therefore not localized in frail flesh, controlled by hereditary animal instincts, environed by stationary matter, nor subject to the willful rule of mortals. This idea of the one supreme Deity is the spiritual, real man whom Christian Science reveals.

In the degree the Christian Scientist identifies himself with this spiritual man and not with the limited mortal, which the corporeal senses present, he finds his environment expanding and the area of his usefulness increased. He rejoices in the release of new spiritual energies as his affections become more universal in nature and the scope of his interests enlarges.

Christ Jesus fully demonstrated the spiritual freedom of his true selfhood, breaking down the limitations that the false material senses would impose. He walked on the water, disappeared from the midst of angry crowds, fed thousands with a few loaves and fishes, and released the sick, the sinning, and the dead from bondage to mortal laws. In the ascension he rose above the human environment of matter into the vastness of infinity, where the range of man's thought and activities reflects the universal capacities of Soul.
