Testimonies of Healing

"Sing unto the Lord a new song," declared...

From the September 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Sing unto the Lord a new song," declared the Psalmist; and again, "Make his praise glorious."

During the time that I was training for a musical career, there were many opportunities to prove the value of Christian Science. Scholarships were awarded me on several occasions when it seemed almost impossible to continue. The result was a complete and thorough musical education. Healings of what seemed to be serious conditions were experienced through the ministration of Christian Science alone. While I was in my teens and studying intensively with a somewhat testy and erratic old maestro, of whom I was secretly afraid, a nervous breakdown threatened to stop my musical education. I lost the use of my right side to such a degree that I could not even hold a pencil, and the right foot dragged badly.

Through the help of Christian Science I was healed and at the same time got rid of a great deal of false ambition. I also lost all fear of the teacher, so that when I returned to my lessons, I found kindliness and a mellow friendliness in all my work with him. Inside of three months I was back before the public, playing with greater power and freedom than ever.
