I am filled with gratitude to God for an outstanding healing which took place a number of years ago. At that time my son was afflicted with tuberculosis of the spine and hip. Materia medica was applied over a period of years, but it proved of no avail. During these years my son studied Christian Science, but did not seem to grasp its true significance. Then he suddenly became aware that he was in reality a spiritual idea. Once he realized this truth, the false sense of looking to the material body for healing was forsaken, and he began to improve daily. Soon he was up and about, and although the complete healing was slow, at the end of two years he was able to pass several rigid medical tests and was accepted for work in a war plant.
This healing has proved permanent. We are deeply grateful to the practitioner for the loving help and encouragement received. Much good was gained from the following statement by Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 425): "Consciousness constructs a better body when faith in matter has been conquered. Correct material belief by spiritual understanding, and Spirit will form you anew."
During this experience I was forced to take my stand for Truth, and I found much in my thinking to be eliminated, such as criticism of others, self-love, self-pity, resentment. And I needed to know the true meaning of compassion and love of my neighbor. I am truly grateful for other healings too numerous to mention, for protection, and for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I am also grateful for the privilege of participating in the activities of a branch church and for class instruction.
