THE REVELATION

From the October 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science has come as Truth's revelation to this age. Not from the human intellect, not from any formulation of the human mind, but as discovery made through awakened spiritual desire, Mary Baker Eddy perceived the provable truth of God and His universe and made it available to mankind.

On page 194 of her book "Miscellaneous Writings" our Leader says: "It only needs the prism of this Science to divide the rays of Truth, and bring out the entire hues of Deity, which scholastic theology has hidden. The lens of Science magnifies the divine power to human sight; and we then see the supremacy of Spirit and the nothingness of matter." Through "the lens of Science" the dawning knowledge of the supremacy of Spirit with its correlative perception of the nothingness of matter turned Mrs. Eddy's thought to God as the starting point of all revelation. As the outcome of her intense desire to know God truly, a profound understanding of Deity was revealed to her which she formulated in the seven synonyms for God given on page 465 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

These synonyms reveal the eternal foundation of true existence and are Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love.
