Testimonies of Healing

My gratitude is unconfined in my humble...

From the October 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My gratitude is unconfined in my humble desire to tell some of the many demonstrations experienced since turning to Christian Science. Over a year ago I experienced a demonstration of mental surgery through Christian Science of an annoying physical condition which had been present for many years. About thirteen years ago a physician stated that there seemed to be some small obstruction present, but he could not tell exactly what it was without my submitting to an operation. I had a slight understanding of Christian Science at that time, and I have always been grateful for the protection of this seed of Truth. No specific work was done for this condition, although a practitioner was helping me to gain a clearer understanding of Christian Science. As the truths I learned were put into practice, the obstruction came away. At the same time a condition which appeared seasonally on my hand was healed through a deeper understanding of Love.

Some time ago I was healed instantaneously at a Wednesday evening testimony meeting of chills and fever. The argument of mortal mind tried to keep me away from the service, and while I was driving to church, the temptation came to turn back; but I held to the following statements of Truth (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 249): "Let the 'male and female' of God's creating appear. Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy. Let us rejoice that we are subject to the divine 'powers that be.' Such is the true Science of being." I saw very clearly that since God knew nothing of the condition, I in reality knew nothing of it, and I drove right on to church. After the service I found that I was completely free.

As the reality of God, perfect Principle, has appeared more clearly in my thinking I have become more and more grateful for this great truth which our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has so generously shared with all mankind. Membership in The Mother Church, activity in a branch church, class instruction, and teaching a Sunday School class have all been steps of progress along the way.—
