It is a happy privilege to acknowledge all the good that has come to me for many years through the application of Christian Science, which has brought freedom from physical suffering, danger, limitation, loneliness, and unhappiness.
My first healing came about through the reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Some twenty years ago a doctor's prescription for constipation was used constantly with no lasting results. A short time after my reading the textbook and thinking about man as God made him, the medicine was no longer needed, and the healing was complete. The following passage from Science and Health was very helpful (p. 453): "A Christian Scientist's medicine is Mind, the divine Truth that makes man free." Severe headaches from which I had suffered since childhood were; also healed.
Quick healings of others as well as my own convinced me that Christian Science heals through the power of God. However, a painful internal difficulty did not readily yield, but after it had yielded I realized that the time spent in bringing about this healing had enabled me to learn valuable lessons that are now helping and strengthening me in my present efforts to live in accord with God's will and to watch my mental attitude towards others. This Science has taught me, when there is any discordant experience, to search my thinking and rout out the error causing it. I often find that I need to express more love and tolerance toward my fellow men, and I can say that when this has honestly been done, the discord has dissolved into its native nothingness.
