Testimonies of Healing

With a desire to make some small measure...

From the November 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With a desire to make some small measure of return for the joy and inspiration that I have received from testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, I offer this report, which can tell only a small portion of the good that has come into my experience through Christian Science.

Our family learned of this religion through my father's healing of asthma at a time when an attack was expected to be fatal. I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School and knew I wanted no other form of religion or medicine but Mind. I was healed of smoking by reading an article in the Journal, and although I abandoned social drinking, at first through a sense of human affection, it was an unfolding understanding of divine Principle and a desire to live in accordance with its demands that made the healing permanent.

At a time when there seemed a need for more all-round companionship. I turned to the Bible and to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as to her other writings, and there I found new ideas on friendship and attraction. The result of my study was an endeavor to manifest more of the Christ in my thoughts and in my activities, and I soon found fine companionships unfolding in unexpected ways. The normal young person's desire for wholesome good times was fulfilled, and there were numerous happy friendships over a period of years. Happy companionship and the privilege of working out problems with one who is an earnest student of Christian Science are daily causes for gratitude.
