"The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders" (Deut. 33:12). These words came with quiet insistence to the consciousness of an aviator, who repeated them haltingly at first, but with gathering certainty and growing confidence. The density of the atmosphere surrounding his plane, which was flying low, seemed impenetrable. The country was mountainous, and the summits were hidden by thick clouds.

While there was an uneasy tension among the other occupants of the plane, the pilot, who had heard and repeated silently the above spiritual assurance, was aware of the divine presence, which fills all space. His consciousness was illumined with the spiritual understanding that divine Mind, God, was controlling man, and this inspired, guided, guarded, his every thought and act. He knew that all was well. At this point the words of a much-loved hymn by-Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, came to thought (Poems, pp. 6, 7):

"Learn, too, that wisdom's rod is given
For faith to kiss, and know;
That greetings glorious from high heaven,
Whence joys supernal flow,
Come from that Love, divinely near,
Which chastens pride and earth-born fear,
