Because I have seen some glorious results of the understanding and application of Christian Science both in my own life and in that of others, I gladly bear witness to the power of divine Science.
Not long after I first heard of Christian Science, I began to read parts of Science and Health and the other writings of Mrs. Eddy, and I also began to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist. While I felt that I grasped but faintly the teaching, here and there the light shone more clearly in my consciousness and aroused and helped me. One day, when I was riding on a streetcar, I opened one of Mrs. Eddy's books. A woman who sat next to me asked, "Are you interested in that?" I replied, "I am trying to be, but I get a gleam of what it means and then it is gone." The woman said, "That is the way the truth often seems to come at first." Then she departed, leaving me greatly encouraged to value the glimpses I had had and to keep on trying to gain more understanding.
In what I read, and heard read in the church services, there were two words that often stood out very prominently to me. They were "Truth" and "harmony."
