For some years before I took up the study of Christian Science I felt in bondage to my home and hated my environment. I began to attend the Church of Christ, Scientist, for it was the only place where I seemed to find peace. I bought a copy of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy and became absorbed in the study of this textbook. In a short time I was healed of catarrh through applying the knowledge I had gained from my study of Christian Science.
As I continued to study and ponder the infinitude of God's love, my home became a haven of rest and peace. Major and minor problems were solved mainly through my own knowledge and application of the truth, but occasionally I had help from a Christian Science practitioner.
One day, when a few blocks from a friend's house, I felt suddenly ill. With great difficulty I reached her home and collapsed on the floor. I asked her to please telephone a practitioner for help. I lay on the bed all day semiconscious, but by evening I was able to be taken home in a taxicab. For the next few days it was difficult and painful for me to sit down and get up, but by the end of the week I was completely healed.
