This testimony is written in gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving Christian Science to the world.
I did not come into this Science for physical healing, although I was sorely in need of it. I was seeking to know why God did not answer my prayers. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in our textbook, Science and Health (p. 1), "Desire is prayer." When one is ready, God sends a messenger. This happened to me when a student whom I had never seen brought me a copy of the textbook, saying, "I think this will help you." I thought, The least I can do is to find out what it is all about.
I read into the early hours of the morning and was much impressed with the beautiful chapter on Prayer. The next day I remarked to my daughter, "If this is all true, you can be healed of tuberculosis." She had been confined to her bed for two years, and medical law said that she had only six months to live. When I asked her to put all medicine aside, she became fearful, but in a few days she was willing. I prayed humbly and earnestly. In three days she arose and in a short time was completely healed. The doctor who had formerly attended her met her one day and was surprised that she was still living. She told him that she had been healed through Christian Science.
