A friend who is a Christian Scientist gave my husband two books, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, telling him that these books contained the answer to all our problems.
I began to read Science and Health, to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and to attend lectures, in order to learn more of the teachings of this Science. At one of the lectures, the one introducing the speaker said, in part, "If you will accept the truth you are about to hear, you will be healed."
At the time I was manifesting all the symptoms of a heavy cold. I realized that in order to receive a healing, there was something that I must do. Desiring to be obedient, I listened earnestly to every word that was spoken by the lecturer, allowing nothing to distract my attention. It was as though only the speaker and I were in that auditorium.
