Testimonies of Healing

I am grateful to have been raised by parents...

From the August 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am grateful to have been raised by parents who were active in the Cause many years. As a child I was considered frail by family friends and neighbors, but Christian Science protected me from most childhood afflictions, and for a number of years now I have lived a normal, active life, which has included college activities, two years of graduate work, and the raising of a family of three active youngsters.

I should like to tell in detail of a healing which took place a number of years ago and which has stood out like a beacon light in my experience. During my sophomore year in college I began to have headaches which were so severe that I was often forced to go to bed. I was wearing glasses at the time, and since the headaches started soon after I began studying each day, I went for new glasses to an oculist recommended by the college.

He diagnosed the condition as severe sinus trouble and said it could be alleviated only by several months of painful treatment. He stated that I would probably always suffer more or less from headaches, which would become unbearable if not treated quickly. I thanked him, but declined the treatment he felt was so urgent and wired my mother, who was a Christian Science practitioner. Within a few minutes after she received the telegram I was completely free and have remained so ever since. Recently, in analyzing this quick healing, I saw that I had been entirely receptive to the truth of God and man and that I had put aside as having no connection with me the laws of mortal mind.
