Poems

In the Fourth Watch of the Night

From the August 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

So buffeted by mortal mind,
Can this frail craft safe harbor find?
So dark the night, so loud the gale,
Can any power now prevail?

Lilt up your eyes! Across the sea
The Christ, the Truth, comes speedily.
Go forward! Do not fear the waves.
It is God's hand that lifts and saves,
His voice that stills the tempest's roar,
His love that brings you safe to shore.
