Christian Science has been of inestimable value to me during the last twenty years. I did not take up the study of it for any physical healing for myself, though I was in need of healing, but to see if it could help our younger child, then a small boy of five years, who had had a troublesome cough since he was a baby.
I shall never forget the large congregation of happy, healthy, and intelligent people that I saw the first time I attended a Wednesday testimony meeting. What was most remarkable to me was that during the hour I did not hear one cough. I was quite convinced that this Science was the truth, and I was ready to begin its study. A practitioner showed me how to study and lovingly helped me with Christian Science treatment from time to time. Gradually as my understanding of God grew and as my fear and false sense of responsibility lessened, our child began to be free and before long was completely healed. After my first talk with this same practitioner I was healed overnight of constipation that had bothered me all my life.
Through our own understanding and through the help of practitioners we have had many healings in our home, some of which have been of diseases that were never named. While I am deeply grateful for these healings, I am more grateful for the spiritual advancement that has come with each healing.
