Christian Science came into my life about nine years ago when I was longing for greater spiritual satisfaction. Although I was busily engaged in the activities of an orthodox church, nothing seemed to satisfy that longing. A burning desire for greater spiritual understanding was uppermost in my thoughts, and I began to pray earnestly to be shown the way whereby I might gain a greater sense of peace and joy.
I had heard of Christian Science, but it meant only a name to me. However, I investigated it and attended a service in a Church of Christ, Scientist. From that service I carried with me a new and certain sense of peace which made me know I would attend a Christian Science church again. Then came a strong desire to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When a copy of the book was placed in my hands. I knew that my prayers were being answered.
At that time I was suffering from a severe heart condition and extremely low blood pressure. In addition, after several thorough examinations and an X ray, the doctor had advised me to have an operation for gallstones, saying that unless I had it I could never hope for health.
