In 1934 I suffered for several months from a severe attack of pleurisy, which incapacitated me for work. On my way to call on a specialist I met a woman who was a Christian Science practitioner. She called my attention to her religion, and I was so deeply impressed by her words that instead of going to the specialist I asked her to work for me. This she did promptly and most lovingly, and I was completely healed after the first treatment. A year later, through the help of this same practitioner, I was healed of stomach hemorrhages within five days.
Then I became a member of a Christian Science Society. While serving in my first church position as organist I was instantaneously healed of bronchial catarrh, which had kept recurring for many years. This healing came through the thought that I was filling my office to the glory of God. Following these splendid healings I have experienced a great many other blessings in applying the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I shall mention one in particular.
In 1952 I was knocked down by a bicycle. Even while falling I declared the omnipresence of God in these words: "Heavenly Father, Thou art here," and I held fast to "the scientific statement of being," from page 468 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
