Mine is a long-delayed acknowledgment of innumerable blessings that have come to me through the study and practice of Christian Science. My introduction to it was the result of my wife's initial attendance at a noonday Christian Science testimony meeting.
For years she had been an invalid, suffering from what had been diagnosed as a misplaced vertebra, a dropped stomach, and diseased internal organs. Despite surgical and medical treatment her condition had not improved, and her situation seemed hopeless. A friendly couple who were Christian Scientists induced her to rise from her bed of pain and go with them to the testimony meeting. In desperation rather than with any expectation of good she accepted their kind invitation.
At this meeting she heard individual after individual testify to the efficacy of Christian Science in the healing of physical diseases and other problems. Impressed by the joy and obvious sincerity of the speakers, she left the meeting inspired with new hope and a desire to know more about this religion, of which the healing of physical disease was an important part.
