I first heard of Christian Science when my husband introduced me to a friend who was a student of Science. About a year after this our youngest son became ill. Our friend came to visit us, and through his work the child was completely healed. Afterwards, through our study of Science, supply for our family became adequate. I became a member of The Mother Church and a branch church and also had class instruction, for which I will never cease to be grateful.
Before coming into Christian Science I went through an operation for cancer, and the doctor told my husband that I would continue to be in and out of the hospital, as there was no cure for the condition. After I became interested in Science I read in one of our periodicals that we should go to church expecting healings to occur. This I did. One Wednesday night the reading from the desk was about the "new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband" (Rev. 21:2) and about the angel with the vials full of the seven last plagues. Following these readings, a testimony was given in which it was explained that a vial is a small vessel for liquids and so has no great depth. I thought. Error has no depth; and as I am spiritual, nothing but good can have root in me.
I was so uplifted after this meeting that I felt as if I were just walking on air. On the Sunday following this I went for a walk after church. When I stopped to rest I felt the cancerous growth in my side coming away. That was nineteen years ago, and there has been no return of cancer.
