Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" gives us a positive basis for all true classification. She writes (p. 127), "If God, the All-in-all, be the creator of the spiritual universe, including man, then everything entitled to a classification as truth, or Science, must be comprised in a knowledge or understanding of God, for there can be nothing beyond illimitable divinity."
What a revolutionary statement to make to a world preoccupied with matter and in bondage to a belief in material energy as the ultimate source of power and substance! Mrs. Eddy's statement is based upon the scientific facts expressed in the first chapter of Genesis, where we are told that God created the universe in its entirety and man in His own image, and that "every thing that he had made... was very good." Christian Science teaches that this account of the spiritual origin of man and the universe is correct and shows us how to prove it by applying divine Principle.
