From the September 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mary Baker Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 144, 145), "The Church, more than any other institution, at present is the cement of society, and it should be the bulwark of civil and religious liberty."

We must understand this in order to help in truly unifying the world and cementing the affections of men in a common good purpose and practice. Our Leader defines "Church" thus (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 583):

"The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.
