For the many blessings I have received through the study and sincere application of Christian Science, I owe endless thanks. I felt the touch of this Science for the first time while in kindergarten. One teacher, especially, radiated much love, and I learned that she was a Christian Scientist.
Science came to my life as the Comforter after the passing of my mother, and the Bible promise (Isa. 66:13), "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you," was fulfilled in my experience. When it appeared impossible for me to continue my education, a dear friend gave me a religious article from The Home Forum page of The Christian Science Monitor entitled "Going Forward." God's words to Moses (Ex. 14:15), "Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward," came to have a vital meaning for me. My friend took me to a practitioner, and soon the way opened for my education to continue through a scholarship. Also I was invited to be the pianist at the local Christian Science Society. When the First Reader presented me with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I began to study in earnest and joined the Sunday School and the Christian Science Society. Soon afterward I joined The Mother Church. What a joy it was to learn that Christian Science is the healer of all mankind's ills!
I had been subject to constant colds, sore throats, and severe attacks of influenza, but these vanished as I applied the truth. One day a basin of boiling water spilled on me. I clung to "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health, and there were no ill effects. Fear of anemia and of tuberculosis, a tendency believed hereditary in my family, was removed by my realizing man's spiritual origin.
