I am grateful that my mother realized when I was a small child that Christian Science was the only religion which she wanted for herself and her children. My kindergarten teacher was a Christian Scientist, and through her help and friendship during all my school years and for many years afterward, I shall always be grateful.
At one time I was completely lifted out of a depressed and lonely feeling by studying the words of Paul (Rom. 2:11), "There is no respect of persons with God," and the words of Mary Baker Eddy in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"(p. 57): "Happiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love. It is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it." A happy marriage to another Christian Scientist and many beautiful, enduring friendships followed this healing.
I was quickly healed of a sprained ankle. The pain was so severe that I could not declare the truth for myself; so I called a practitioner to help me. She came to my home, and when she left an hour or so later, the pain was nearly gone. In two days I walked without a limp. I realized that this healing, the natural unfolding of good in my consciousness, was brought about by the loving prayers of the practitioner in helping me to see my true relationship with God, to whom accidents are unknown.
