In the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy makes this statement (p x): "The divine Principle of healing is proved in the personal experience of any sincere seeker of Truth." For the past twenty-five years I have proved this Principle of healing in my own personal affairs through demonstrations of the truth regarding supply, health, and relationships. Lack in various forms has been overcome, injuries and physical ills have been healed, and human relationships have become harmonious.
When my daughter accompanied her husband, who was transferred overseas by the Army, I realized that Christian Science reveals the motherhood of God, from which we can never be separated. This thought helped me to overcome a sense of separation. I was enabled to see the beauty of foreign countries through their letters. And I was grateful for the universal love which they found in various parts of the world, because they were always prompt in locating and attending Christian Science services in the places to which her husband was assigned.
From my earliest interest in Christian Science I had thought a good deal about what I would do in the case of a broken bone. I told myself and others that I would probably have it set by one familiar with anatomy. But when the following experience occurred I was grateful that there was no thought of turning to anything but divine Mind. When my daughter was small, she fractured her collarbone and sustained a painful injury to her face. The face injury concerned her more than her shoulder, which she thought was only bruised and skinned, although the break was quite evident to me. I recommended that we place the arm in a sling to rest it, but she immediately and firmly said, "No, somebody will think my arm is broken."
