Testimonies of Healing

From the February 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with an ever-deepening sense of gratitude that I should like to share with others an experience which has veritably proved to be a staff on which to lean. After months of consecrated prayer, which resulted in the overcoming of what had appeared to be insurmountable obstacles, I was led to apply for class instruction from a teacher of Christian Science whose class and association were held in the United States.

As the time of my departure drew near, a strike of transatlantic liners broke out, becoming more aggravated as the weeks passed. Since it was at the height of the tourist season and all airlines were fully booked, I began to get rather alarmed. When it got to within ten days of sailing time, I realized I had to face this problem, and I talked it over with a Christian Science practitioner.

We reasoned together that the trip was being taken in obedience to provisions in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy and that no material circumstance could withstand the spiritual power which had inspired the Manual. The practitioner then said, "You know, you should take the Manual for your passport."
