Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us on page 167 of Science and Health, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." Her statement was brought home to me by the healing of a fractured pelvis, sustained in 1952, when I fell on the grounds of a Veterans Hospital. I was unable to rise, and I feared that I might not be found before dark.
It was getting cold, for the sun was going down, and the ants and mosquitoes were much too friendly. I declared that all God's creatures are harmless, and not a single mark appeared on my face or hands. My fear of not being found before dark disappeared when I declared that I could not be separated from God. Finally a patient on the porch heard my cries for help and called an attendant, who immediately notified a doctor.
I requested that a Christian Science practitioner be called. This was done, but I was taken into the X-ray room so that pictures could be made for the government records.
