The pathway from sense to Soul is not without moments of sorrow, but it is a most satisfying path to follow. Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (Science and Health, p. 323), "The effects of Christian Science are not so much seen as felt." How deeply I have felt the inspiration of peace and happiness which Christian Science reveals to us! How many times when in need I have found guidance, healing, and comfort in Mrs. Eddy's writings and in the Christian Science periodicals!
Christian Science is not just a theory, doctrine, or philosophy; it is the Science of being and offers to us practical and satisfying proofs of its divine commission. I am profoundly grateful for it. It has given me a purpose in life, a very definite reason for existing. It imparts to me spiritual understanding and answers so many of today's perplexing questions.
Although I had attended the Christian Science Sunday School, I became hostile in my attitude toward it in my early teens. After an automobile accident in which I sustained head injuries, including a broken eardrum, I became a serious student of this Science. The motor scooter I had been riding collided head on with an automobile. After the accident a Christian Science practitioner gave me treatment, and I was back in school within four weeks. My hearing was perfect.
