LISTENING TO THE STILL SMALL VOICE OF TRUTH

From the August 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Students of Christian Science are grateful for the divine guidance and protection they enjoy through listening and obeying the still small voice of Truth, God. They have found that even in this age of great industrialization and material advancement, it is possible, even natural, to commune with God as simply and as directly as did the prophets of old. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 308), "The Soul-inspired patriarchs heard the voice of Truth, and talked with God as consciously as man talks with man."

Incontrovertible proofs of this communion are experienced not only by seasoned students of Science, but by those who are entering the path of spiritual understanding and progress.

A woman who resided on a farm, miles from the nearest town and without the convenience of a telephone, began eagerly and with childlike receptivity to read Science and Health. This textbook of Christian Science had been given to her by a relative living in a city many miles away. Reading and studying at every opportunity, the woman began to see that she could be helped out of her difficulties, which seemed insurmountable.
